ABS section layer control

hi I'm using ABS with Acad 2006, very cool but for a few frustrating issues, currently how do I control the layers while cutting sections -now I have to explode the section and match/alter each piece to the right layer-I'm thinking there must be a way to stop it changing layers at all.. appreciate any help...
