Default Invalid Layer Name

Hi,
I am using AutoCAD 2002. One of the following errors is displayed when I try to create a layer or rename an existing layer, using a layer name that either contains spaces, or that is more than 31 characters long: "Invalid Layer Name" or "Invalid Characters in Layer Name".
Thanks.

Thumbs up

Hi Beauregard,
Set the EXTNAMES system variable to 1. By setting system variable to EXTNAMES, it sets the parameters for named object names (such as layers and linetypes) stored in symbol tables. The value is saved in the drawing.
Bye.
