I can't visualise items unless I select them

I have a drawing with different lines and layers. All the layers are visible and all objects unhidden. However some of the lines are visible on the screen for some reasons. If I do select all the objects will appear selected and would be visible (yellow), If I deselect the items won’t be visible again. This is the first time that this happens to me. Do you know how to sort out this problem???? I’m desperate!!!
