About depth of field

I want to create blurred objects in the background of my picture. I´m using 3ds max and Mental Ray. I can create the effect in depth of field and get the right effect in the scan line-renderer, but when I turn on Mental Ray it doesn't work anymore. When I use the Depth of field (mental Ray) it works, but the blur becomes all noisy. (Filled with small dots of some sort, and I really don't want that!!!) Any suggestions.

You're just gonna have to turn your Samples Per Pixel up higher. Something like Min 5, Max 17 (depending on your output resolution) should do pretty good.

Thank you, I tried to raise the Sample per pixel up a bit and it did the trick.
