Default AutoCAD files into Studio Max

Hello again,

In dire need of help!!!! I'm trying to import some 3D images that i've created in AutoCAD into 3d studio max but i keep loosing the smooth faceted faces i'm getting in autocad and when in studio max they are box like objects. Is there anyway i can get around this to have smooth objects in my studio max file??

P.S. I already know about STLOUT command, this would take too long as there are hundreds of different componets i've got to import.

Thanks Again

Default Me Too

Hi

I've just posted the same question in the AutoCAD forum (copied below)

Please help us!

"Hi

Just wanted some advice on the best way to export dwg solid/surface models from AutoCAD into 3ds Max.

Using the "save as 3ds" function doesn't always cap the ends of solids, so you end up with holes, and it screws up the accuracy of curves, I've tried all the settings. I use the "save as stl" fuction because that seams to give the best results but there must be more direct way.

I know there is software available but they are quite pricey so was wondering if anyone had any tricks or advice to help.

Thanks in advance

Paul"
