Default How to convert mesh surface to natural or default color?

Can some one help me by explaining how to get the mesh in 3dsmax to appear in default colors? Right now it is white and shiny. I don't know how it ended up like this. Diffuse material colors will not show up at all.
Thanks in advance.

Go to the properties and uncheck your "Vertes Channel Display" you may have to hit a hot key which turn on the vertes channel display.
