Good Solid Modeling implementation advice is intended for three groups within your organization responsible for product development and production.
They are:
First Line Managers - Technical Implementation
Middle Managers - Tactical Implementation
Executive Managers - Develop Implementation Strategies
First Line Managers
Because those reporting to First Line Managers are the designers and engineers using 3D Solid Modeling, they not only need to understand the technology, but also how it is implemented, and how its use affects other departments.
Middle Managers
Middle Managers are responsible for the tactical implementation of the 3D Solid Modeling system and its ongoing management across departmental boundaries. This is because multiple technology groups reporting to them often have conflicting goals and interests. Middle Managers must make informed decisions about conflicting priorities concerning the use of 3D Solid Modeling, as well as other technologies.
Executive Managers
Upper or Executive Managers approve the purchase of new technology such as 3D Solid Modeling for many and various reasons. All of these reasons assume one or more of the following tangible benefits will ensue:
- A reduction in costs
- A compression of development and/or production time
- Improved quality
Executive managers must understand the potential benefits, limitations, and major implementation and management issues, well enough to effectively develop an implementation strategy.
Without understanding there can be no genuine commitment!
Without commitment, any assumed benefits will be elusive!
Thus, all good Solid Modeling implementation advice is intended especially for Executive Managers.
