Default 3D Studio Max, Coreldraw, Solidworks and Autocad????

Hi folks,

This is my first time post, I am a novice/student user of the above packages^, however I am starting to wonder which ones I should concentrate on focusing on. I am a product designer and use CAD to create still images of product realisation's and I sometimes use CAM processes to fabricate my designs.

I have began to wonder what the benefits are of 2D Autocad are when it is possible to draw both 2d and 3d in both Studio Max and Solidworks. My tutors seem to be in favor of Solidworks as opposed to 3D Studio Max for 3D drawings, but from what I have seem so far the final images are better in 3D Studio Max.

Any advice would be greatly appricated.
