Default CAD checklist/standards

Do any of you have suppliers that when submitting CAD to your company the supplier needs to pass a checklist of items that each CAD file must pass, or vice versa, you are the supplier and must pass a checklist to submit to your customer. I know GM has something called the Data Creation Standards (DCS) that files must pass before submission. For example, GD&T applied to the part, creator name on files, all files must have Csys and 3 datums. I am in the process of creating something for our suppliers and would like to get some examples from others who have these checklists.

Cool Will the files be in a neutral format such as IGES and STEP?

Will the files be in a neutral format such as IGES and STEP or are they native files such as Catia or AutoCAD? Depending on the answer, the checklists will be different of course.

We have the following checklist topics on our 3DCADTips.com site:We'll post more here as we find them.
Good luck!

Thank you for the checklist, I will be reviewing them throughly.

To answer your question, we are going to be getting data in all different formats so i am looking for a generic standard/checklist that would be covered by all CAD packages. I don't want to generalize by stating a system like NX(UG) and saying you must have solid on layer 1, wireframe on layer to, solid must belong to PART ref set. I want to generalize and say something to the effect of part naming coventions to be ex. XXXXXXXX.asm, must have material sp ec callouts on model, things like this. Like I said, we are starting from scratch with this, I am sure that in time when we get more suppliers that work with one CAD package over another, ie. NX(UG) then we will probably create a different contract pertaining to the the CAD package itself.
