Default compound angles....drafting question from a junior

how do you go abouts calling (dimensioning) out a compound angle? what's your standard, and how do you do it.......

Shop has to set it up on the bridgeport on two sineplates and machine the angles, as well as drill the holes. Unfortionatly, i'm starting to run into this problem more and more.......

Compound angles are typically dimensioned using two views.

You might be able to get by using the two views you have and dimension the angle in each view, but that really isn't correct.

I'd suggest adding another view that shows the true angle. If the view on the left is the front view, create an auxillary view looking directly down the angled line. Then dimension the angle in the front view and the angle in the auxillary view to define the compound angle. The shop should be able to work from that.

To be absolutely sure, you could add a second auxillary view out of the side view looking down the angled line. This will give you the second true angle. (But I don't think the shop needs this.)

alright, i was hoping that there was some drafting standard on how to do it and all so I don't have to waist half a page to detail one thing....but oh-well

And from what i can tell I would also have to tell them which angle is on the bottom sineplate and which on the top?

switch them around and you get different resoults.

I got 10 pieces like this
