We got a file from our cutromer with the .CGM extension.

What is it, where does it come from?

Viewing CGM in a Web Browser

CGM = Computer Graphics Meta-data.

From my experience, I-deas generates a .cgm when you send the detail sheet to the plotter. Not to be confused with the actual cad drawing.

I think its simply code sent to the plotter, and yes, some viewers out there to read cgm's & let you view.

One interesting detail few people know, is that Microsoft Word can read CGM files!
Just select [Insert] -> [Picture] -> [From File...] and then at the bottom of the Open dialog box select the CGM file format.
