I've received an IGES file for rendering and animation with mental Ray.. Thing is, its got 42k patches and is 250MB..
I can't open it in max, so tried Rhino, which opens it up in no time.. So I need to know:
1. How can I group objects within the file as separate assemblies/parts? Currently I have selected objects by colour, and then exported bits of the model out that way.. is there an easier way, of selecting parts, or is it a manual process..?
2. When I do export a file to max from Rhino by selecting certain parts I end up with a huge number of separate poly patches, how can I weld all this in Rhino before sending it over?
Any advice is much appreciated!
