Cloud Scan

Hi guys,

My company is planning on getting a cloud scan of a ship's engine room to then manipulate it in V5. Has anyone had any experience with cloud scans before as I never even seen a cloud scan model before. The scanning company will be post processing the raw data, if I get the option what would people recommend the raw is processed to?

cheers

Ryan

I'd have them convert the cloud data into a CATIA V5 file(s), and it should be the same V5 release level that you use. It should also be in the geometry type (solids, surface, or plant design) based on what you intend to do with it. Any additional cost for this is probably worth it, as it will eliminate your company from having to convert the data.

(cloud data is typically millions of points)
