How to wrap a curve around a cylinder?

Hi,
Can any one explain me how to wrap a curve around a cylinder to use as a reference guide to create a cut.

hi
make a solid rod,then go to edit>wrap,define sketching plane,create the ref coordinate system,sketch a line at any angle to b wraped around the rod/cyl from the ref coord sys to the the point u intend to wrap around then sweep
the cut along the curve.hope it will help u.

Hi,
Do it by using helical sweep. You have to define the axis of revolution, the style of cut and define the section.
