Joining polysurfaces and getting torus to align to polysurface

Hey

To start from the begining:

I made a ellipsoid and have then dragged it out to be some deformed shape. Then i cutted it in half and mirrored the one half lefted, so the object now is the from both sides. But when i join them i miss the opportunity to turn on control points, so i can explode, transform and then join again. In the middle where i join the two polysurfaces i still got this bold line - how can i remove that?

When i've found an answer to above-mentioned i got a torus cut in half that i need too join in the object above - but can't find a tool for making the torus align to the object.

Hope someone can help me.
