Job DescriptionDesign Engineer
Position Summary
Work closely with the Company's Engineering, Sales and Marketing Departments to invent, design, develop, and advance new prototypes and products to bring to market in a research and development environment.
Responsibilities
Invent and design structural components and mechanisms to be incorporated into new furniture
and mobile cart products working with a variety of materials including sheet metal products,
extrusions, injection molding, casting, various components, and plastics to develop new products.
Directs, coordinates, and participates in building and testing of prototypes.
Establish and develop testing protocols, requirements, and interpretation of test results.
Troubleshoot potential product design issues and recommend design solutions.
Create, manage, and establish tasks associated with project management including timelines,
BOMs, and product costs.
Work with Sales and Marketing to identify opportunities for new products in the marketplace.
Gain an in-depth, comprehensive understanding and grasp of all products associated with
Evaluate new equipment and purchase as needed.
Qualifications
Creative and innovative style combined with inventor spirit demonstrating a high degree of
ingenuity, understanding of spatial relationships, sense of proportion, and great mechanical
aptitude for various mechanisms and linkage.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects.
Possess high quality standards.
Problem analysis and problem resolution capabilities.
Experience and Education
Experience with multiple forms of manufacturing machinery not limited to sheet metal, plastic and
machined parts.
Strong familiarity with metal forming.
High level ofSolidWorks proficiency.
Working knowledge of prototype.
B.S. Degree in Design or Mechanical Engineering preferred or equivalent experience. Furniture design experience desired, but not necessary. Minimum 7 to 10 years experience in all aspects of engineering within a design/manufacturing environment.
Computer SkillsProficient in SolidWorks, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
