Measuring Negative Inertia Values in CATIA V5

Howdy all,

When measuring the inertia values of a part in CATIA, I am getting negative values for Iyz and other off-diagonal terms in the inertia matrix. I've attached a screenshot.

I am putting this part in an assembly, which ends up with a negative Ixz value.

Why are these values negative? I am using these values in a separate simulation, so I am expecting positive values for Ixy, Ixz, and Iyz.

The principle axis values are positive; however, I am interested in the inertias about a separate axis, not the principle axis for my simulation.

Please let me know how I can fix this problem. Thanks a lot.

David
