Help making a Knit surface into SOLID!

Hi everyone. I'm having a problem trying to make my surfaces into a solid. I've managed to knit them together and ticked the 'Create solid' feature. It seems to process just fine with no error messages when I click OK but when I go to view the part through sectional view, it is still hollow and I can't cut into it.

What am I doing wrong here? Any ideas how I can make this a proper solid?
