I have been trying to create bolt holes in a part, along the inside of it's edge using Solidworks Patterns. It can be done easily if your part is rectangular or your edge is defined as a curve - but my part's edge is made up of quite a number of straight lines that aren't parallel or @ right angles with each other.
Here is a simpler shape, and Solidworks just understands the first line's direction, but wont' follow the other lines.
The farthest I've got was:
You have to use solid lines (not construction) and create the entire sketch using a single "line" (just dont stop half way through and then continue). Then you create a Project Curve feature using that sketch and the plane.. and it still wont work..
