Saving viewport layouts

I just want to find out whether or not the viewport layout can be saved or will it revert back to the four view layout. Any suggestions?

Set up your viewport layout and save the file in the max\scenes folder as MaxStart.max. Any change you do and save in that file will be present every time you create a new max scene, very handy for frame rates, default render size, renderer assignments and so on.
