Strange problem with sketches in the tree structure

I am working in Catia V5 R24 and i encountered this problem to which I have yet to find a solution.

Sketches can easily be created and edited by dragging if they are not constrained in any way. But when I either create a sketch or relocate an existing sketch to the third (or higher) level of the tree it becomes completely uneditable. Every line, curve and point appears as fixed. I'm thinking that this might be solved with a quick change somewhere in the configuration of Catia so I wonder if any of you have had similar experiences and could come with a quick fix. :)

PS. I have worked in both R19 and another license of R24 where this did not cause a problem but I am stuck with this license due to customer requirements. I will be very grateful to any help you could give.

This does sound like a strange problem! Could you attach a picture of the tree, so we can see what you have. A picture of the 'fixed' sketch might help also.

When you say the sketch appears to be fixed; does everything turn green?

No, it stays white, just as you can see in the last attached image.

Thanks for the pictures. I'm still stumped! You should be able to drag the line and circle (or any non-constrained geometry) anytime when working with the sketch. The fact the sketch in in a 3rd level of a Geom Set should make no difference at all.

I'm not at work for a couple days, so I don't have access to CATIA. I will look into this when I get back and try to duplicate your situation.

side note: I see that the Point and Plane are isolated - do you always create geometry like this? Is the Sketch isolated also?

I just tried to duplicate your model, and I made Geometric Sets four levels deep. I was able to edit each sketch at every level. So, I'm still puzzled with what is happening with your model.

Does it happen with all models?

Yes, unfortunately it happens with every model i create or work in. The example i took images of was something i made from scratch to show that even clean new parts have the same issue in our version.

This has led me to believe that the problem is rooted somewhere in the settings but I have not found any setting that could be connected to it. At the moment we edit the sketch in a lower level geoset just to transfer it to the desired location later. It feels redundant and is certainly not the way it should be.

I am very thankful so far for the help and it would be both fun and interesting if we could find a solution to this weird problem in the end.
