How do I make a guided helix with variable pitch and radius

well, I registered on this forum because I need to make a guided helix with a variable pitch and radius, exactly what the title says. I know how i can make a helix with a variable pitch and radius, but I cannot project this on a 3d spline. Does anyone know how to do this. I cannot find anything about this on the internet.
I want to use it to make a tornado-like shape. If it's not possible with a helix, can someone please tell me with what kind of features it is possible to make?

Instead of projecting it, sweep a line along the helix to create a helical surface intersecting the envelope of your tornado. You can then create a curve from the intersection. I swept a circle along this line to make a spring...
