Hi
I use Architectural Desktop for architecture (mostly homes and schools) and SolidWorks for industrial design (furniture and details such as handcrafted latches and stuff). Is there any reason why I shouldn't be using Autodesk Inventor instead of SolidWorks? A part from the fact that I know and like SolidWorks.

Well, briefly, just use the software you get the most value out of. Consider your vendors and your customers, and what they are compatible with. It may be unnecessary to use SolidWorks if Inventor fulfulls your needs in both areas, and your customers/vendors can use Inventor files.

Hi Guy,
I would say that learning an new CAD app takes a while, and if you feel comfortable with SW, you should keep it while you think you don't lose productivity.

Maybe you should show the way you work to someone that uses Inventor and compare if he manages it better than you with SW

Kind regards

Each CAD app is unique !

This makes me think about few years ago when I was designing auto parts using Solidworks. A friend doing the same work suggested me to use Catia instead.
I tried... but I never changed since Catia is definitely not working the way I like to do.
Maybe you will love Inventor, better than SW, maybe you will hate it.
