About rendering background color

Having trouble with the background color while rendering in 2007. In 2006 when the background was set to "white" the back ground was "white", ie nothing. Now I get a black background whenever I render, despite setting the background colors to white.

Create a New View - At the bottom enable Background, choose Solid Color -
choose any color you want. Click OK and create the view, Select the view.
Click Set Current and change your Visual Style to 3D or higher and you'll see the background. Render and you'll see the background.

Thanks for the reply, it looks like I will have to get used setting a view now.
