If the base feature of a part is created from a translation, that is, from an ACIS file or STEP file, it is not adaptable. By default, this type of base feature is named ''Base1'' in the browser. However, if the base feature of a part is created from scratch in Autodesk Inventor, then it may be adaptable. By default, this type of base feature is named ''Extrusion1'', ''Sweep1'', or ''Loft1'' in the browser, depending on the operation used to create the feature.
