conversion of auto cad drawing into catia v5 and viceversa

Newbie
i am finding it difficult to convert .CAT file into autocad format and viceversa. if any body out there know abt it please help.
 
A .cat file is not a CATIA file. According to Wikipedia; a .cat file is a Windows Catalog file.

DXF and/or STEP files are probable the best formats to use to exchange cad data between Autocad and CATIA.
