DDEDIT not working with double-click

Hi,
If I double-click on a piece of text or a block with attributtes . . . nothing happens. If i type in DDEDIT, then choose text, the dialogue box opens up and the command functions as expected. The same is true for blocks, except the command is ATTEDIT. In Options, User Preferences, double click editing is checked. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

DblClick

Tools, options, user preferences. Select double click editing.

Go to - options>selection - place a mark by : Noun/Verb selection - close options.
After this you should have the double-click function back
