help~how to work in meters (not inches, feet, nor millimeters) in autocad ^^; thanks

hello

i just want to know how to work in autocad (2008) using meters.

coz whenever i choose file>>new>> open...metric, and then import it to sketch up, it's always in inches or feet...

for example: i will draw a 1 meter line in autocad. when I import it to sketchup, it will be read as a 0.30m line.

please help, i really need to work in meters for my plans etc.
