Help required for Spherical Bearing Simulation in CATIA

Gaza

New member
Hi all

I'm trying to simulate the movement of a spherical bearing, also known as a Rod end bearing. I'm having difficulties trying to give the outer housing of the bearing 3 degrees of rotation around the inner ball in CATIA DMU kinematics workbench.

I would be extremely grateful if someone could give me a few pointers in how to achieve the bearing simulation or direct me to a tutorial with a possible solution.

Thank you in advance

Try a SPHERICAL joint between the center point of the housing and the center point of the inner ball. That will give you 3 rotational DOFs.

You probably want to fix one of the two parts, and define some sort of REVOLUTE joints that you can use as angular input commands.
