How to extract a surface from solid?

Hi,
I need help in extracting surface from a solid, could someone please explain how it can be done. One more thing, is there a way to extract or generate wireframe from a surface. Thanks in advance.

If you want to extract all surfaces from solid you can use "disassamble" command in the Generative shape design workbench.

you can also use extract comand (in same workbench) to extract individual surfaces and edges from surfaces

Depending on the complexity of the part and how much wireframe/surface data you want to extract from your solid; you might try converting the solid into IGES format and then open that file.

To extract a surface from a solid, change to the Generative Shape Design workbench, in the OPERATIONS toolbar or in the INSERT menu under OPERATIONS there are 2 extraction tools you can use. The BOUNDARY function which will extract the boundary edge of a surface or the EXTRACT function which will let you extract the face of a solid or the edge of a solid or surface. First you can EXTRACT the face of the solid, then extract an edge of the face you created by using the same command or you can use the BOUNDARY function to extract the complete boundary edge of the face, your choice. The above method will only extract single surface or curves from the single surface. To extract all the edges or faces of a part, all you have to do is multi-select the edges or faces you want to extract BEFORE you select the EXTRACT icon. To multi-select hold down the CTRL button on the keyboard and pick the edges or faces you want. Then select the EXTRACT icon and the dialogue box appears and indicates how many elements are to be extracted. Select the OK button and you will have all the curves or face you require.
