How you start a new drawing

I have Acad V14 which haven’t use for at least 15 years

I have a medallion I would like to draw and although I remember most commands I’m at lost on how to set up my start page (new drawing)

I mean the medallion is about 36” round which does not fit on my laptop screen, so how do I set up my screen to start drawing?
