Reduce part file size

Hi all

How can I reduce the file size of a part, I have download a stp file for a VFD and the file seem huge. I have opened and saved to the correct format but when I add it to the assembly it slow everything down.

I am trying to do a 3d panel layout so only need the basic outer case.

I'm new to solid edge so any help would be great
