Thread Display in Part design

Hi, I have modelled a Nut and Bolt, Could anyone Tell me how I can view
the thread after creating with the Thread/Tap tool, as all I am seeing at
the moment is a smooth surface where a thread should be!!
I know its there because it shows up on the spec tree.

That is correct, Deano!

To check to see which features are threaded, you have to use the Thread Analysis tool.

Threads and taps are not shown in 3D to avoid all the graphics, but the thread symbols are generated when a drawing is made from the part.

I think a visual in part veiw would be helpfull.
then maybe put into no show in assemblies.
Just a thought dassault, if your reading!!

You have a good idea, Deano, to display the thread information as part of the 3D model.

Two ways you could do this:

1. Add a 3D Text with Leader pointing to the threaded surface and identifying the thread size

2. I've seen one company where a colored, transparent surface was added to the solid definition to graphically represent the threaded surface.
 
Layers in Catv5

I have another question - I am more familiar with catv4 than catv5
would I be right in saying that using diffirent layers is easier in catv4.
At work we tend to put faces on layer 0, solids in layer 1, volume in layer
2 etc, etc. But in my inexperience I cannot see how to do this in catv5.
Do layers even exist in this format!?

I don't bother with that thread crap. If I'm making a part that is threaded, at it's reasonably small (along with the assy it's going into) I make a helical cut and that looks a hellova lot better than a coloured surface ;)
