Tube forming from flat pattern

I have a part 713mm x 496mm x 2mm thk with a variety of holes and slots, this is to be shown in 3D as a tube 229mm o/d x 496mm long.
I have tried using the Flex command and this works OK providing all the holes are 5.5mm or over.If the holes are under 5.5mm then the tube will not show in shaded mode also lines are missing and holes are shown as slits.
I am trying to avoid using the Pattern Features command which I find very time consuming.
Perhaps there is anther way to produce a tube from flat.
All thoughts welcome.
