IMO, sometimes when you select the sketches, it varies on the direction of the closing points. I think thats why before you have the problem and now you doesnt.
also when using that command, it's convenient to have the same points on each sketches. you can add one so that those points can be used on coupling and etc.
Sometimes I try to use different options on the "coupling" tab. just make the "tangency then to curvature" into "ratio"
Its a quick fix, but it does not work every time.
